SURGERY OVERVIEW
Burpengary East Medical Centre and Skin Cancer Clinic is a new medical practice located in The Hub Shopping Centre & Commercial Complex in Burpengary East. Having already established a strong patient following in Northlakes just a few km to the South we recognised the need for additional patient services in Burpengary East. We are a modern and forward thinking practice aiming to provide high quality care to a rapidly developing community in Burpengary East.
Our medical centre is located 33 mins North of the Brisbane Airport, with easy access to the highway and a quick 30 minute drive to the beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast. We are centrally located between three regional hospitals. The immediate area is currently only serviced by one other mixed billing medical practice. We aim to provide a community focused General Practice specialising in Skin Cancer Medicine, Scalpel Free Vasectomies, Women’s and Children’s health.

3 Generous sized consultation rooms, 1 Fully equipped Treatment room and 2 Procedure Rooms. We have a fully ducted Air Con system with individual room controls, a private staff room, onsite parking, staff toilet and disabled toilet and onsite pathology.

SURGERY ROUTINE
Our surgery hours are Monday to Friday: 8.00am – 6.00pm,
Weekends (Fully Private Billing) – By appointment only (9.00am – 1.00 p.m.)
We schedule our general practice consultations allowing 15 minutes per patient – 4 per hour.
TREATMENT ROOM
Burpengary East Medical Centre has 1 treatment room and 2 separate procedure rooms. Our Treatment Room is fully equipped including fully computerised equipment, modern sterilisation equipment and a separate patient assessment area. We have two additional procedure rooms which are specifically designed for skin cancer procedures, Vasectomies, Minor procedures and Contraception Procedures.

- Vaccine Fridge with automated electronic vaccine temperature monitoring and management system
- Our Patient assessment area includes a Ultrasonic Wireless Station (digital measurement of height weight and BMI with digital print out).
- Trauma management (our treatment room & procedure rooms are fully equipped to undertake suturing and wound care).

ADMIN SETUP
Burpengary East Medical Centre is a Fully Accreditation Standard Facility. We are awaiting Accreditation date for assessment.
We are a fully computerised surgery, low paper use practice, using Medical Director software.
I-pads are available for patient self-check in, patient feedback and patient suggestion facility.
Wi-fi access is also available for patient use.
NURSING SERVICES
Our medical centre has 1 RN (with twenty plus years of experience in General Practice), specialising in minor procedures and skin cancer surgeries. We also have 1 EN who has experience in Minor Procedures and Ward Nursing.
Both of our nurses support the doctor in all minor procedures, care plans, chronic disease management, health assessments emergency triaging and patient management, pre-consultation assessments to facilitate and maximize doctors work efficiency.

We are fully equipped to provide Skin Cancer Medicine, Cosmetic Injections, Vasectomies, Contraception Procedures such as mirena or implanon insertion.
Our doctors are all Fellow of RACGP and they are experienced General Practitioners with many years of sub-specialty experience.
PATIENT DEMOGRAPHICS
Burpengary East is a rapidly developing community. Recent census results state the current population is 6500, majority of the community are families living in their own home. The whole community is serviced by only one other general practice. There is a major residential development in North Harbour (please click link for further info) that has attracted new people into the community. They are currently selling stage 14, and the future plan is for a Harbour and canal facing residences. There is also a large industrial complex planned to run parallel to the highway.
The area is ear marked to be a self-sufficient community and current land values have double in 10 years.

BILLING ARRANGEMENTS
Burpengary East Medical Centre is a Mixed Billing practice during weekdays and Private Billing only during weekends. Bulk-Billing is available for pension card holders and children under 16.
PATIENT DEMAND
Our Vasectomy clinic has bookings one month in advance and clinics are normally fully booked. Our Skin Cancer appointments are in demand and our GP workload is steadily increasing and we schedule 15 min appointments – 4 per hour. We also have Care Home Patients for doctors who are interested in expanding their interest in these areas.
Walk in patients are usually shared between practitioners where applicable.
TOWN/SUBURB FACILITIES
Burpengary East is a quickly developing community, currently going through a rapid stage of growth. Infrastructure is expanding to service growing population. More medical services are required and we are establishing ourselves at the beginning of the growth phase. We have very easy access to the highway and services such as X-Ray, Specialist Services and Regional hospitals.
Burpengary East is a semi-rural community with a relaxed population.
We are only 30 minutes from the lovely beaches of the sunshine coast, 20 minutes from the quiet and beautiful Bribie Island or Redcliffe Peninsula and 33 minutes from the Brisbane Airport.

There is a host of tourist activities within easy drive of Burpengary East and we are centrally located between several tourist hotspots.

SKILLS OR INTERESTS SOUGHT
We are seeking a General Practitioner with an interest in chronic disease and women’s health.
Experience in skin cancer medicine would be beneficial or an interest to develop skills in skin cancer medicine.
Training in vasectomy can be provided to the right candidate.

CONTRACT TERMS
We are a very friendly and professional team looking for the right doctor who will work with us as a team. We value our staff and put our patients first. We support our doctors to do their best. Our systems are designed to be efficient to reduce wastage of resources and improve efficiency of our doctors. We offer flexible hours of work with a variety of clinical workload to improve job satisfaction and keep work and life balance. Our focus is on quality of care rather than quantity, so we offer mixed billing service.
As we are unique in our skill mix, we support doctors to develop further in our expertise field of skin cancer and minor surgical procedures including vasectomies and in other areas of interest. For the right candidate, this is a unique opportunity to work and train in skin cancer services and Scalpel Free Vasectomies and to expand their skills and benefit from generous and lucrative fields of work. We offer 60% to 65%billing or $130 per hour minimum guarantee, for the first 3 months.
